In Winter Springs, Florida, Kevin Randy Legendre, 31, was arrested for beating his seven-year-old son for getting bad grades. He’s been charged with cruelty toward a child.
Legendre has joint custody of his son along with his ex-wife. After spending time with his father, the child went home to his mom. He told her and police that his dad beat him because of a bad grade in school. He also said dad pushed him into a table and beat him with a belt.
Now my husband and I get mad at our eight-year-old when he does poorly at school. To punish him, we send him to his room, make him do extra homework, and don’t allow him to watch TV. You know, something any reasonable parent would do.
Instead Legendre, beat his kid and left welts and bruises all over his body.
Kudos to the mom for believing her child, calling the child abuse hotline, and getting police involved ASAP. The boy has received medical attention and been interviewed by a doctor and police. Child Protective Services and the Kids House are also investigating. Legendre is due in court on July 1st.
